Online Workshop on Nature Photography
Introduction
22 May is celebrated worldwide every year as the International Day for Biological Diversity. It was adopted as a red-letter day by the UN General Assembly in December 2000 to increase public understanding and awareness about biodiversity issues.
In view of the Covid-19 pandemic, this year’s slogan is “Our solutions are in nature”. The goal is to underline how important hope, solidarity and collaboration at all levels are for building a future of life in harmony with nature.
To celebrate this day, ICBA will organize a free online workshop on nature photography to show our appreciation and love of the biodiversity in the UAE. The workshop is part of a larger initiative called ICBA YES targeting youth empowerment and cooperation in the country and abroad.
Workshop Overview
This workshop is an introduction to the study and practice of digital photography. Participants will learn how to take great photos with a digital camera and different types of lenses. They will also learn how to see light and photograph it. The workshop will not focus on technicalities only. A major component will involve reviewing photographs and films and understanding that photography is an aesthetic, critical, and conceptual practice.
About Instructor
Mr. Mohammed Ahmed Ahli is a landscape, nature and time-lapse photographer from the UAE.
His photographs have been published extensively worldwide in a large variety of media, from calendars and books to adverts and publications by over a hundred organizations such as National Geographic, Digital Magazine, Popular Photography and others. He believes that the most important purpose of a photograph, as in all of art, is to evoke an emotional response. While everything in nature does this for him, selecting just the right places and moments to take a photograph that conveys those emotions is far more difficult.
