The ecological role of the soil is intimately interlinked with the biodiversity of organisms that meander in it. Soil dwelling organisms establish innumerous interactions amongst each other forming a complex network of biological activity. By engaging in prolific exchanges of chemicals and signals with other components of the ecosystem, this rich biodiversity is the workforce that enables the services that the soil provides.
